Description
Hold on now. You’ve seen your fair share of Jimbacrinus bostocki crinoids. But how often have you seen a plate of them like this? It has four “lesser” crinoids—anyone of which would make a fine specimen all by itself—which surround like orbiting satellites the big, bulging crinoid at the center of the plate. This crinoid is incredibly well preserved and has a large, bulbous head and very long arms. The arms are coiled at the ends of their lengths and thereby suggest the animal’s sentient capacity: get too close to me, and I might grab you! The arms, of course, are also draped with rows of long, careful pinnae, these by which to comb the water and feed. But it’s the coiled arms that get me. They give the crinoids that crazy alien look for which the Australian crinoids are reknowned. They elicit gasps and whoas from new onlookers and draw in even seasoned collectors who want a good look. To top it off, this fossil will stand up to close inspection. It’s 100% authentic and skillfully prepared by a professional preparer who took great pains to show off every bit of the exposed crinoid. The plate measures approximately 6 1/2” x 4 1/8” x more than one inch and weighs 1 lb., 0.5 ounces. Free US shipping only.
