beautifully prepared, collector grade Pterotocrinus rugosus crinoid w
ith Pentremites sp. blastoid
from the Big Clifty Formation from Crawford County, Indiana, Mississippian in age. The crinoid o
n the left
measures 1

wide
with 1
1/2” of stem and is highly detailed. T
he crinoid on the right measures 1 1/4” wide. The blastoid measures a tad over 1/4” long with some brachioles and has 1/4” of stem.
The matrix measures

1/2” x 4”. As you can see from the pictures, the
c
rinoids
are
nicely articulated and has outstanding
detail. The blades are present on both crinoids
. The white calcite displays beautifully against the gray limestone matrix. This is an extremely rare crinoid
piece
. This was masterfully prepared under a scope. This was found in 1978 and just recently prepared. The “lens” where this and others I’ll be posting is collected out.
