We recently acquired some nice fossils from the late Joseph Butterfield Collection (NJ). We will be auctioning these fossils here over the next few weeks.
This is a very cool crinoid specimen from the Mississippian beds of Alabama. It is a distinct
Dasciocrinus spinosis, recently acquired from the Butterfield Collection
. This inflated crinoid has very fine detail preserved - the multi-branching arms of the crinoid are very easily seen. The aesthetic fossil has very good natural color and contrast and is beautifully centered on the large display plate of siltstone. This is an excellent example of a displayable crinoid from the Bangor Formation of Alabama.
