    Chrinoid Stem Fossils from the Carboniferous Pennsylvanian Period.
    These fossils were collected in the coal fields of eastern Kentucky. Deposited from shallow seas that covered this area occasionally during the Carboniferous Pennsylvanian period approximately 330 million years ago. Above and below this marine deposit layer are coal seams, plant shales and sandstone.
